What Has Jerry Moss Been Up To?

Jerry Moss, Community Outreach Director, loves to spread the word about the Blazers all over the state of Oregon and Southwest Washington.



Jerry runs basketball clinics, teaches sports math, sports journalism, PE classes, Hoops 101, and talks at schools, clubs or any organization that wants to know more about the Blazers. You can keep up with his adventures and activities here.

BCB Youth Corp Committee to the Sate Capital (February, 2004):
Jerry took the BCB Youth Corp committee to the State Capital to meet our State Leaders and to pour over the grant proposals for this year. Thirty seven proposals from all over the state of Oregon and southwest Washington were reviewed for volunteerism and community value. These students are making a difference in their communities thanks to the Blazers!

NIKE - GO PE Program Jerry, Todd and Blaze have put over 500 kids through our NIKE - GO PE program. The three of them teach PE Classes in local schools. Due to budget cuts, many elementary schools have minimal Physical Education opportunities. We have partnered with Nike to get those kids moving. By the end of April, we will have activated over 2,500 kids!

Bridge Builders Jerry brought the Bridge Builders group of young men together with Dale Davis to discuss reading and opportunities at University of Portland. It's nice to see our future in the hands of young people like these kids. Kevin Fuller has given them a vision and Dale was impressed by their own plans for their future.

Read To Achieve
Blaze and Jerry visited 14 elementary schools to promote the Blazers' Read to Achieve program. Blaze has really put in the miles with Jerry. He is one tired cat!

Finally, Jerry has spoken to a wide variety of civic organizations throughout our community talking about the positive changes the Blazers are making. Some of the communities Jerry has visited so far this month: Donald, Gresham, Colton, Canby, Kelso, Longview, Camas, Salem, Scappoose, Vernonia, Tillamook, Jefferson, Lake Oswego, Tualatin, and right here in our own neighborhood!
