KG looks 'great' in return to practice

WALTHAM, Mass. -- There was a chance that the Ticket Stub was going to be called upon for backup yet again Friday night against the Cleveland Cavaliers, but that idea was put to rest this afternoon -- Kevin Garnett is ready to play in Game 3.

After missing Wednesday's practice due to a sprained right mid-foot that he suffered during Game 2, Garnett returned to the court this afternoon for a full practice without limitations. That, as Doc Rivers noted, was completely unexpected.

"I was surprised he went, yeah, Eddie and I," said Rivers, referring to himself and the team's longtime athletic trainer, Ed Lacerte. "But the swelling went down a lot yesterday and there's basically none today, and he said he didn't feel a lot of pain, so that was good."

"I didn't really want him to go much today, but he was moving so well, I just let him go."

Rivers wasn't the only one who thought Garnett looked good today. He drew rave reviews from numerous teammates as well, and the overall feedback was that Garnett didn't miss a beat.

"I thought he was great," said Kendrick Perkins, who also returned to practice after missing Wednesday's session with a hyper-extended right knee. "He was moving well, being aggressive, jumping well. He looked real good today, so, he [doesn't] look injured to me."

Perkins used the word "aggressive" to describe Garnett's play today, and that's a facet of KG's game that Rivers wants to see more of moving forward. He has taken at least 20 shots in each of the first two games in this series, and if anything, his coach wants to see that number increase.

"We want Kevin to be more aggressive," Rivers said. "I told him 20 (shots) is not enough. I want 25. I just think the more aggressive he is -- you know, even when he doesn't even shoot the ball, the more we go to him good things happen. It makes the other team make a decision."

So if anyone in Cleveland was expecting not to see Garnett on the floor Friday night, here's a reality check: You're probably going to see even more of him.
